121B tier 10 Chinese tank on supertest

Hello warriors,

a new vehicle appeared on the supertest - a tier 10 Chinese event medium tank, 121B. Basically it's the 121, only with 105mm L7 gun (British top medium gun) and 130mm hull front. There's no way to confirm whether this vehicle is historical or a fake, but there's a description.

This is most likely a Clanwars vehicle.

Description:

121B is the a modernized variant of the "121" Chinese medium tank, developed in the sixties. Compared to the prototype, the 121B had more modern 105mm rifled gun, improved suspension and improved frontal armor. The vehicles of this type were equipped with IR lamps and laser rangefinder. Thanks to the optics used on the 121B the tank had very high accuracy on the move compared to the Type 59.

  2. Surely there could be a better tank for CW than this?

  3. I find it very funny, 261mm APCR ammo, when WG want to nerf tier 10 mediums pen to to like 255-257mm APCR? Also 10 in rof and 390 dmg, what a fucking joke. This tank has OP gun and OP pen. Once again WG introduce OP premium and event tanks in terms of gun handling and pen (see obj 260, löwe, t34, etc.) who all have too much pen on their tier.

    1. You're completely clueless, Lowe has a lot of flaws to drag its pen and mediocre DPM down and T34 is a trash tank, pen is all it has, the only tank you managed to land your comment on (God knows how judging by the kind of player you seem to be) is 260 which should have been the real Russian T10 HT instead of IS 7 and not an optional tank.

    2. Reload is 10 seconds, far from op...

    4. It is stats on supertest. They allways change. Don't start whining untill it hits the release notes.

    5. This has the worst dpm of all teir 10 meds. The lowest non autoloader dpm is 2400 which is the e50m. This 121 has 2200 x.x. Even the normal 121 has around 2700. So op before you complain atlest get your facts correct.

    6. >T34 is a trash tank

      ayy lmao

    7. Excuse me, but I think that you're talking about reload time, not RoF. RoF indeed is only 5,69, which is the worst of all tier X meds. Even regular 121 shoots faster with its 440 dmg 122mm gun.

  4. Stop calling it OP, 98% of you people will never get one, since it's clan wars tank for Sure

    1. he says its op because large gun rammer makes it 9 seconds, vents and brothers in arms its 8.10 then prem consumes make its rof to 7 seconds. thats why hes saying its op gun it wouldent be op if it was 13 or 15 seconds for a reload. you gotta count on the equipment and skills.

    2. Count the skills and equipment yeah but don't count them the way that idiot above me did. 35% reload speed reduction after skills and rammer?.. lol someone needs to learn the basic mechanics of how skills and rammer work I think.....no way you get a 10.5 sec reload down to 7 secs with them.

      but hey keep spouting nonsense.....

  5. Actually it's real.
I saw a Type 59 with L7 gun at the Military Museum called 59-1 in Beijing. I still keep the photo.

  6. This is something of a strange one, the closest reference I can find to any variation of the Type 59 chassis or similar vehicles is the Type 59-II, a 1982(!) upgrade with an L7 105mm licensed through Austria, known as the 105mm Type 81 Rifled Gun. Isn't the cutoff date for WoT apparently somewhere around the mid-1960s?

    1. There really isn't a cut off date, there is cut off technology. They don't do smoothbore guns, composite armor, etc. They Type 64, which is a tier six, dates to the 1970's IIRC.

    2. So theoretically they should be able to include a prototype of the M1 Abrams, seeing as the first prototypes were developed in the 70s, had normal armor (Chobham explosive reactive armor was added later to production variants), and an American version of the British 105mm rifled L7 gun. But Wargaming claims the M1 Abrams "was developed too late for the scope of this game." Absolute BS, when you consider they include tanks like this "121B" (1984), the Type 64 (1975), and the STB (1970s).

  7. so basically a type 59 on steroids on tier 10?

    meh

  8. yes this is a historical vehicle, named Type 79

    1. The range finder seems to be from the earlier models of Type69, and the hull looks somewhat longer for some reason.

I dont really think this is historical to be honest

    3. however this vehicle appeared in the National Day parade in 1984 , so it's absolutely historical

    4. its not historical. type 79 and 121 are different. 121 was cancelled way before china built friendship with nato countries to gain l70

  9. is no one going to talk about the -5 degs of gun depression?

    ReplyDelete
  10. I would take this thing over my regular 121 any day,
more gun depression and better armor yes please

  11. I think they should just leave the 105 mm gun on the tech tree of the actuall 121, so that you could choose between one gun on the other one. A bit like the E-100 or Patton (although on those two the gun choice is clear)

  12. Rita, the closest verifiable information I could find about a Type 59/121 variant equipped with the 105 L7 gun is the Type 69 III, also known as the Type 79. I found a little bit of information on it in some of my Janes military guides, but if you don't have access to that, the Wikipedia entry is (surprisingly) mostly correct. The tank was built and used starting 1984. (Really kinda late for WoT, don't you think?)

    1. 121 was desighed by 704 plant (YTO Group 704 plant, YTO means 1st tractor). There is a protype at the door of 704 plant.

      Maybe 121B is this one.

    2. Well, the "121B" doesn't technically exist, per se. Its called the "Type 69 III" or "Type 79" in all the sources I've been able to find. It seems like Wargaming made up the "121B" designation, although I don't know why they would.

But yes, that definitely looks like the tank in question. The gun looks like an L7 with that distinctive fume extractor and the "indigenously designed thermal sleeve." Good find, mate.

  15. I guess long-time players should be happy.

    >have Type 59 with highly skilled crew
    >get 121B, making the whole grind for standard 121 redundant
    >move Type crew to 121B when you want a T10 battle
    >????
    >profit
