Reload timer mod is legal on US server.

Last night on the NA forums the user “Lies_and_Slander” made a good point, he asked to support whether the OTM Reload and Shadow Mods are illegal.
For those unaware the OTM Reload gives out the reload time information of every enemy tank (Reminder:  “Sela” from -G- clan got banned for using something similar in the past) and the Shadow Mod keeps the silhouette of an enemy tank where it was last spotted and disappears after 20 seconds.

OTM Reload
Shadow Mod

This was the answer he got:

Didn't got surprised after reading the whole answer but did frowned to the sentence “Please be aware that there are no hacks or cheats available for World of Tanks, as everything is safely stored server side”( cof… Warpack cof…sorry had a cheat stuck on my throat) Honey, let’s not sugarcoat this okay? If a mod is “unacceptable” (like was stated) it means is a cheat!

Later on “Pigeon_of_War” (WoT: PC Support Specialist) added while reinforcing his coworker response on support:

And not long after “Razavn” from Relic clan wrote something I couldn't agree more with:

What is your opinion about these mods?

And to end, this is for the pricks that use cheats:

  1. The reload mod is just a rough estimation, because crew and equipment are not taken into account.

But I haven't heard about the shadow mod. Nice idea, but I can't estimate if it's helping or just confusing ...

  2. They should simply make a list, and ban the mods that are not on it. No stupid "do what you want" thing and maybe get ban or not

  3. shadow box/mod is on their list of banned mods

  4. The shadow MOD is illegal. The timer MOD is legal. Why waste time doing a ticket to get a cut and paste response from a clerk making minimum wage?

If u dont like either decision, then lobby WG, somehow, to chg it.

  5. As far as I know, the problem is that there is another mod that calculates with exact accuracy the remaining seconds of the enemies to complete their reload, including the remaining shells of the autoloaders and their time considering the crew ability, skills and equipment. This is what shold be punishable.

  6. The problem is that they don't control it. Noone checking who is using what mods. Cheats friendly enviroment.

  7. Ban all the mods!
    Muahahahaha!!!

  8. Both Mods Should be illegal.. WG needs to run their game thru stream, and then list all mods that are illegal..next step would be watching all the whine from VAC bans

  10. No player would be able to constantly tell the current reload state / time of all live enemy tanks in match. Hence, the reload timer mod gives an advantage over players not using it. "Unfair" seems to be the wrong term here though, since every player can install that mod. "Undesired" may be a better term, because I believe WoT implies a certain incertainty about whether an enemy tank has reloaded or not. Personally I can tell how much time I have between two shots of an enemy tank when engaging it, or of enemy tanks engaging in a firefight close to me, but I couldn't tell whether an enemy tank just appearing in front of me was ready to fire or not.

  11. The Shadow Mod is used by quite a few people I think.. I get spotted, and unlike a tomato, I move. but then you sit and watch as shot after shot still hits the spot you were at when you got spotted. kinda comical to watch them sit and waste their gold ammo on dirt.

  12. Actually the cleanest solution to the constant mod discussion was to ban them, and also make it impossible for a mod to interact with WoT. It probably wouldn't hurt WoT being a fully compiled C++ based executable program with a fully proprietary renderer, and not the mixture of Python and scripting languages it currently is. That might at least make it harder to create add-on software that would display additional information on a WoT player's screen.

    1. WoT isn't just a game with vulnerability to mods, though. It's explicitly built to enable modding and includes an API for that purpose.

The negative for developers is that periodically they have to ban a particular mod.

The positive for developers is that they get hundreds of unpaid programmers and graphic designers building stuff to improve their game that keeps people interested in their game, even down to simple stuff like giving the AMX 40 a rubber ducky paint job. This lets them focus on tanks and maps and game mechanics and take 3 years to get around to very basic interface changes like tank names on the minimap and a chat window that lets you put people into groups.

  13. mod gives an advantage.
I am against any mod in the game.

    Ru server. New video.
    Balaton. Death Panzerwaffe
Space from Lake Balaton to the Alpine foothills was littered with burnt-out "Tiger" and "Panther". Then was born the infamous phrase Sepp Dietrich: "My sixth tank army is called, because it is now only six tanks.

    1. as a matter of fact he did receive a ban. he was streaming with warpack got banned then apparently he got unbanned because he has friends in high places

    2. your mentally challenged.. he wasn't using warpack goofball. he was using a mod that showed when the enemy was reloading, and another showing showing where tree's or buildings got destroyed... wasn't "warpack". so please stop being another "topic of the week noob" and repeating something you weren't there to see..

    3. You're both wrong. Sela was banned for the destroyed object location on minimap, as well as the enemy turret direction on minimap. (which is banned on NA but legal on RU for whatever reason)

    4. So much misinformation here, if this is the level of fact checking we are going to get from Rita. I am slightly dissapointed,

Makes you appreciate how much work SS put in with FTR.

    7. SS put out good "gossip", but he was a jackass. He never fact checked shit. I called him out on many errors and he never responded. He also was blatantly bias against WG. For instance, he said WG peaked when they went from 370 to 500 MILLION and this year will be another new high. In a year or two WOTs will be the highest grossing game in the world while AW will be lucky to outgross World of Warships, a game i am very eager to play and spend money on.

  15. “Please be aware that there are no hacks or cheats available for World of Tanks, as everything is safely stored server side” - this reminded me this WG employee statement

  16. Once a game can be Modded, It will be exploited, if they were really wanting to stop this, they could.

  17. Keeping track of so many things only a minority of people is capable of - WITHOUT any human errors - is giving people an unfair advantage. Especially when the mod automatically recognizes what gun is mounted etc etc without requiring any skill, knowledge or overview from the player using it. It's not gamebreaking cheat but definitely giving players an unfair advantage and should not be allowed. I like the game and I love people trying to improve it, but we need a balance. The moment a player needs a mod to be competitive with other players using it we are breaking the game...

  20. ps.

Its simple: if you DONT HAVE to learn the games rules - it should be illegal.

Player a) gets into the game, reads wiki and ingame and remembers everything
Player b) gets a mod which does that for him

So how is that not an advantage? or any better to using a bot (which also does the work for you - just a hint more)

Such mods are the first step to become a cheater.

If reload timer is okay- so are silouhettes... than its laserpointers... bots... warpacks - and hacking WG servers or what?

    Good for them i guess?
